Welcome to Ithildin!

Ithildin is a literate to advanced, somewhat realistic RPG with a focus on wolves.

The land is comprised of four very different packs-- Celebravan, Dúrrán, Gondló, and Arcuileru-- into which loners may sort themselves. Roleplay is currently plot-as-you-go, as the forum is somewhat under construction (and we need some members!).

Conditions

Season~ Winter

The brilliant hues of bronze, orange, and gold of the terra firma’s trees have been reduced to a sickly brown as they begin to fall from the trees. Autumn departs in a current of icy wind from the north. The days have fallen silent, the birds long gone in search of warmer climate, the garrulous crickets and frogs lying dormant in crevasses. One can feel the heavy foreboding the starless night brings, sense the early chill coming down on the lands with a vengeance. Doubtless, this will be one of the worst winters Ithildin has seen.

Weather/Conditions

Dúrrán
Farthest north out of all the packlands, winter is cruelest in Dúrrán. Frigid winds buffet the terra at all angles. A thin layer of ice, though not enough to support any weight, has already coated parts of Morelliánu lake. Prey is scarce, either retreated or hibernating. One might be lucky enough, however, to dig through the shallow snow to find a rabbit, chipmunk, or other small rodent.

Celebravan
The snow has begun to fall lightly in places, though slightly warmer regions still retain their ground matting of pine needles and dry leaves. The occasional squirrel or mouse has been sighted gathering food and making last-minute preparations for the winter, but otherwise game is rare to find.

Mmm.. Hey, all. Thought I should update this.. It was just kind of.. sitting there. Okies. So. Important thread in Random Insanity, hopefully putting some sort of explanation on recent events. I'm still working on the two newer terras, and though I've kind of let Gondlo sit for the moment (Zeth has some wonderful ideas for it. ^^), I've been working diligently on the other. It should be up sometime soon.. ^^ Thanks for hanging in there, guys.

Neutral Territory
[ ]Esgaltathar Den
A newly discovered shelter, Esgaltathar is a massively wide willow nearly in the center of the neutral terra. Hidden by the thick drapery of the famous, drooping willow branches is a wide cavity. Interestingly enough, the entrance opens out in an enormous wooded cavern, big enough to allow nearly fifteen wolves inside at a time. The huge tree is completely hollow, carved away over hundreds of years by some unknown race.. Ancient carvings and charcoal figures blaze across the wall. Supposedly, Fenris and Tor inhabited the very den. The tree is considered sacred, and serves as a community-wide meeting place.

[ ]Ringorn River
The “river” is really a low stream, but it sounds better, eh? Ringorn, a tributary off of the Móreilianu River serves as an almost circular boundary around the neutral territory. The water is almost completely still, due to the many huge rocks that litter the stream. The mossy, rather slippery boulders offer a bridge to the brave souls who don’t care to wet their paws. The stream flows into a pond near the great Esgaltathar willow, where novices at fishing can herd their prey into a dead end.

[ ]Maltheniaun Plains
Maltheniaun plains stretch across the clearing, in which the Esgaltathar Den sits. The name means “Golden Cloud,” and for good reason… The field is so thick with cheery, yellow and bronze tiger lilies that the grasses can hardly be seen. The petals are immensely soft, offering lavish comfort. Those who relax on the blanket of flowers describe it as feeling rather light.. like sleeping on a cloud.

[ ]Máneryn Wood
This forest encompasses the clearing where Esgaltathar sits, ultimately forming a circular barrier around the great tree in an abstract sign of infinity. Spirits endlessly roam the band of trees, some benevolent, some malicious. Some snarl or snap at a beast, some proclaim enigmatic prophecies, and some simply see to it the passerby moves safely through Máneryn forest. One might feel a slight chill while passing through... the touch of a spirit.

Sparring Areas
[ ]Agarechor Clearing
Agarechor is an oblong clearing surrounded by brush. The first and oldest ring, the grasses are long worn away to expose the soil because of use. The horrid memories that follow the ring’s existence have been set aside, and as what seems to be an attempt to erase them altogether, intentional fights to the death here are forbidden. The earth is scarred by slashes and scuffs by combatants’ claws, tainted a subtle rose. A crimson hue that has not and will not fade, the eternal vestige of blood spilled and lives lost.
Moderators: Demisi, Zethiael
00
[ ]Nornuir Cliffs
Nornuir cliffs, jutting crudely from the mountainous part of the terrain, are suited as an arena for fights to the death. The angular "ring" is average in size, but the outcropping has a sheer drop on three sides that would take astonishing fortune to survive, bar the fact that it's encompassed by sharp, jagged peaks. The forth side is the path to safe ground… Generally, only one wolf returns on this path, unless the Alphen has mercy on the lesser fighter and calls off the fray.
Moderators: Demisi, Zethiael
00
[ ]Seregrín Plains
A vast area reserved solely for war, it teems with bloody memories.. The area reeks of death. The plains fringe Dúrrán, which does nothing but make them look all the more ominous. Not a living soul has tread through the godforsaken field in years, save for the Alphen… He sometimes lingers along the outskirts, or rests in the shade of a particularly favored oak. Demisi keeps a constant guard over the area with bizarre tenacity. Wolves are strictly forbidden to set paw on the bloodstained turf.

Dúrrán
[ ]Hethudae Forest
A shadowy forest, with almost no light. The thick foliage filters sunlight well, making it dim during the day and almost pitch black at night. The forest is void of sound besides the soft whisper of the frigid breeze and the occasional toll of a raven. The ominous-looking, soot black birds are said to be deceased alphen, watching over the land...
Moderators: Demisi, Zethiael

[ ]Móreilianu Falls
The terra's lake is perhaps the most peaceful part of the terra. Mist drifts aimlessly about, courtesy to the plummeting falls. The harsh calls of the ravens are masked by the calming sound of rushing water. A beautiful waterfall feeds the lake, though the falls arc downward from rather sinister looking, sheer wall cliffs. The cliffs are almost jet black in color, craggy apexes jutting crudely from the stone. However, the peaks form grottos, providing shelter for the pack's wolves.

00
[ ]Margath Caverns
Dark, narrow caves wind beneath the earth, opening occasionally into large "rooms." Water drips profusely from the high ceiling, creating mineral-rich pools in the cavern's many crevasses. Bones lay scattered about at intervals, some from hidden kills, others from wolves that became lost in the hopelessly tangled passages. The caves serve as sanctuary for wolves who prefer to spend time concealing themselves from the world.
Moderators: Demisi, Zethiael
00
[ ]Gwathren Hidings
The peaks of Móreilianu Falls create angular caves in which the wolves rest. The caves are somewhat humid and greenish from the waterfall’s mist, as the falls plunge down to earth a few feet from the dens. But this also shields the hidings from view. The wolves tend to carry pelts up to the cliffs to cover the cold stone floors of the dens.

Celebravan
[ ]Thilivren Peaks
These cliffs are relatively smooth, spiraling upward to a central pinnacle. The summit is topped with snow most of the time, hence the name. From a distance, the great peak appears to glitter. A great portion of the terra can be seen from here, making it an ideal post for alphen.

[ ]Hwestiavas Field
Hwestiavas field stretches across a vast area, full of smoothly rolling hills. The lush grasses are constantly in motion, kissed by the gentle breeze that whispers through the area. Rabbits are abundant here, living in shallow burrows dug through the grass and rich soil, so a great deal of hunting is done here.

[ ]Amrún Dens
The heaps of rocks in Hwestiavas field form dark crevasses, some large enough to house two adult wolves. Several of the boulders have been tunneled under, forming underground dens. When not relaxing in their warm, dark interiors, many wolves like to doze on the sun-baked rock at the top of the masses of rock. The mouths of the dens were made purposely to face in an easterly direction if possible, so that the rising sun cast light into them and awoke the wolves inside.

[ ]Minuial Wood
This forest encompasses the terra, its outskirts forming the boundary. The canopies of the coniferous trees are sparse, letting ample sunlight filter through. The natural beauty of the trees, free from moss that thrives in dim, cool places, shines through. Wildlife consists of mainly birds and small tree-dwelling mammals, though here and there a deer might wander through. A river, winding in an intricate path through the trees, divides the woods. The lazily drifting river actually belongs to two terras, as it flows into Dúrrán territory to supply the Móreilianu Falls.

Gondló
[ ]Dolenbrith Tryst
Dolenbrith serves as a meeting place for all the members of the cadre, where they spend much of their time. When they feel like socializing, that is. Difficult to locate by those who have yet to discover it, it’s one of the few dry patches due to the deteriorating tree trunks that dam the water from flowing over it. But the trunks also randomly litter the clearing, serving as perches for the residents.
00
[ ]Flugohíth Milieu
These particular ruins sprawl not far from Dolenbrith— a great stone edifice, toppled nearly onto its side and half-submerged in spongy, decayed material. Smashed pillars and archways riddle the slab, making a perfect area for dens. As with Móreilianu, the stray apertures can be marvelously comfortable with the aid of old pelts. But be wary, as most of the dens may flood after a good rainfall.
00
Arcuileru
[ ]Anciaun Cave
The resident pack of Arcuileru seeks shelter in a network of caves referred to as Anciaun. The cave is a single hollow, long and slightly narrowed, with some smaller dens in remote corners of it. The pack generally spend their nights in the main part of the cave; some regions are a bit more humid than the outside world, offering relief to the biting desert aridity. The entrance is lined by rows of stalactites and stalagmites, giving some the idea that they resembled fangs. Thus the caves have been nicknamed the Cobra Caves, their namesake these stone “jaws.”
Moderators: Demisi, Zethiael
00
[ ]Lómin Crag
Bordering the great Anciaun cobra is a colossal, jagged bluff that casts a shadow over the caves when the sun sets, its fierce pinnacles shielding the sunlight from entering. Various scorpions, rattlesnakes, and other hazardous creatures inhabit the crevasses, spelling imminent demise for some, but desert-faring rodents sometimes linger to be made a meal of by a passing lupine. Members of the cadre are usually quiet here, as the slightest sound rebounds and reverberates until it roars through the rock face.
